I'm Phil and I'm an American living in New Zealand. This year, 2020 is my 50th anniversary being a Christian and this blog is kind of my way of celebrating it. It is really more of a web-site if the two can be differentiated. I have wanted to display some of my ‘wares’ for a long time but have never got around to it. I am originally from Nashville, Tennessee but I have been a part of New Zealand for 25 years. In this blog I want to share articles on how to encourage you in your walk with God. It is also about me personally, my life and my family and a lot of educational stuff. I want to share a bit about the church that I go to and encourage you if you are in Hamilton, NZ, to come and worship with us. Over the years I can say without question that God has been great and he has looked after me. For me, being a writer and author, I want you to see some of the things I've written and to encourage you to study the Bible by making available free courses that you can be involved with. So, this blog is also about Biblical Education, the Bible and about my Christian walk. As a summary, what this blog contains:

 

I want to share something about an online seminary called Biblicaltraining.org. Understand that Biblicaltraining.org has no official relationship with this web-site. I promote it because Biblical Training offers free training at a very high level. I worked with them for about four years and really enjoyed getting to know them. They want to promote God and his Word to the world. It is really great what they are doing. Most of this blog contains articles and book reports that I have created over the years. There is also a section on photos from New Zealand and a few other countries. It also has a few stories that I wrote years ago which you might find interesting. There's also a section on sci-fi stories that I wrote about 15 years back. You might find that also interesting.  You may republish the photos but only if you reference me: © Phil Smith. The Bible reference below reminds me of how great God is; he told of Jesus so many years ago. This was hundreds of years before Jesus actually came.​

Isaiah 9:2; 6-7, The Bible

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. (This light is our only hope in this world.)
